Historic Valdosta contributes to preserving Theatre Guild Valdosta

Historic Valdosta is honored to support Theatre Guild Valdosta with a $1,000 contribution towards preservation efforts.

The Guild’s continued care and stewardship of the Dosta Playhouse plays an important role in preserving downtown Valdosta’s creative spirit. We are especially grateful for their partnership during the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation Fall Ramble, when more than 350 visitors toured the beautifully preserved 1941 Art Deco theatre as part of this statewide heritage tourism event.

Thank you for enriching our community and ensuring that live theatre remains a vibrant part of Valdosta’s cultural and historic landscape.

You can support Theatre Guild Valdosta as a patron attending their plays. Dirty Work at the Crossroads opens February 5th and Rapunzel opens March 26th.

Historic Valdosta Presents Contribution to the Crescent Window Preservation Efforts

Historic Valdosta was happy to make a contribution to the Crescent’s preservation efforts. Built in 1898, The Crescent is one of Valdosta’s most treasured landmarks and the jewel of our city. Saved from demolition in the 1950s by the Valdosta Garden Club, The Crescent remains a powerful example of what community-led preservation can accomplish.

Thank you to the devoted volunteers who generously give their time to maintain the house and its beautiful gardens. The Crescent is currently raising funds to restore its original leaded glass windows, with window-naming opportunities available for those who wish to play a role in preserving this historic home.

In October, The Crescent partnered with Historic Valdosta to host The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation Fall Ramble, helping raise awareness and support for Valdosta’s historic resources on a statewide level.

In addition to its rich history, this gorgeous property is also available for event rentals, offering a truly special setting for weddings, gatherings, and community celebrations.

Historic Valdosta Contribution to Antioch’s Vandalized Window Fundraiser

Thank you to our community for showing up in a big way to support First Antioch Baptist Church and for celebrating Valdosta’s rich history and architectural legacy. The presentation by Alfred Willis was incredibly educational and highlighted the importance of preserving these historic spaces for future generations.

Historic Valdosta, with support from the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and a Walmart Spark Grant, was honored to contribute $2,500 toward the restoration of the church’s vandalized historic stained-glass windows.

If you would like to help restore these beautiful windows and continue celebrating Valdosta’s history and architecture, please visit ValdostaHeritageFoundation.org.— with The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and First Antioch Baptist Church LLC.
